Letters to my Daughter - Learn

To My Daughter,
I want to show you a love of learning, and to show you that I need to be with you when I am learning new things.
I want you to see the joy that can come from uncovering new and wonderful details that can make our lives richer and more full of love. No detail is too small to appreciate and look at more closely. So I will make sure that I am uncovering new and wonderful details in while we are together each day.
I want you to see me chase new things to learn, so that you know that learning is not just something that happens, but something that you need to pursue. I know that this may seem that my learning is taking time away from our play, but in the years to come, I know in my heart that this effort will help instill a love of learning for you too. You will learn to trust your gut on your learning path, and not just the course that is set out before you.
I want you to feel the incredible feeling of pursuit. So when you show interest in an area, I want to make sure that you are given the proper tools, and the proper time to learn your interest fully. I want you to develop in your daily interests, and therefore, I must develop in my own daily interests. This is a true love of learning, and I want you to know that the pursuit never stops. There is always more to learn.
I want you to have time to pick flowers when you see them. Because picking is really just the first part of your learning. I want to come sit along side of you when you start to notice all of the parts that make up a flower. All of the beautiful colors and all of the appreciation for texture. There is so much that we can learn from flowers, but there is even more still, that I can learn from studying you while you are studying a flower.
As I write this letter, we are just a short few days of starting a new school year, that will look quite a bit different this year. We will both be learning this new way together. I can not think of a better way to learn something new, than being right by your side.
